Something doesn't smell right
Alright, I was doing some research on a 2008 Sierra regular cab 2x4, and found that I could get a 4.3 ltr work truck that gets 15 city and 20 highway, or I could get a 4x4 with a 5.3 ltr that gets 15 city and 21 highway. I don't know about you guys, but this simply defies logic.
I can understand that they got some new technology that allows this, but why wouldn't they test it on the smaller engine first or all of the engines. If anyone owns a truck with a 4.3 or 5.3, don't hold back. I have a year to buy a truck, but right now I am just in the comparison stages |
RE: Something doesn't smell right
The new truck drop 4 cylinders when they arnt needed

RE: Something doesn't smell right
honestly, since 99 the v8s really dont get much worse than the v6s do... idk... i know a guy with a v6 regular cab and he gets 2 mpg better than my v8 extended cab

RE: Something doesn't smell right
remember..the v-6 has to work harder..plus the technology difference...its just cheaper to build is all

Yeah, I'm thinking if I find the cash to buy a new truck, I'd probably get a regular cab 4wd Silver Bare Bones model with the 5.3. I'm sure you could order em this way, but I have never seen a work truck with something other than a 4.3 or a 4.8

RE: Something doesn't smell right
I dont think they offer the 5.3 in a regular cab for 07 or 08,just the 4.8 and 4.3.

RE: Something doesn't smell right
I can get one, I just have to go up to a fancier interior and all that stuff that nobody really needs, they just think they need and never use. CD players are way overrated, all I need is a AM/FM radio. Who needs air conditioning, thats what windows are for, duh, and if you get manual windows you don't even need to worry about rechargeing it:):):):)LOL.
This is all speculation purely for entertainment value. The newest truck I will probably ever be able to afford in decent shape is a 99 2wd extended cab Sierra of my Grandpa's. |
