spark plugs

I have a 2000 Sivelrado 5.3 and have fouled the platinum plugs more than once. It happensby starting the truck cold and moving it out of the garage and then shutting down. On start-up it is loaded up and then after that, I get a random misfire just as the TCC locks up. New plugs fix it until next me or the wife forget to warm it up before shutdown. Does anyone know if there are any software fixes or if this is a known problem. I've had these issues before with platinum plugs in other cars. I'm thinking of trying different plugs. Anybody got an answer or comment?

RE: spark plugs

Faulty spark plugs are usually the result of more pressing problems. Usually a result of excessive temperature changes or improper fuel/air mixture. A Chitlin or Haynes Manuel (available at most auto parts stores) address such problems. Personally the Bosch platinums aren’t the best in my mind. I’ve changed to the Autolite Iridums. . . they work really well but they have to be properly gapped.

RE: spark plugs

only 2001 models had ngk plugs...how many miles are on the truck? i have over 100,000 on my 01 5.3, and i changed them, and they didnt even need it...even the dealership guys told me that those engines run so clean, not even to mess with them...sounds weird
