Speaking about locking diff.
For my half ton, I'm happy with IFS, but on my 3/4 or Duramax if I ever get one, I want a solid axle with manual hubs. I don't want that electric **** snaping under serious loads.
No, that is a jeep thing. Especially if any lift is involved. The track bars were usually removed and never replaced so they tended to wander. Just try it at over 100 and you really get worried. It wasn't on purpose, but the speedometer was way off.
IFS are more for smoother rides. Straight axles tend to get a lil bumpy. Thats unless you go wit a coil over system in the front. That helps a liittle with the ride. I want to switch my front diff to a straight axel, but im in no hurry. The frontdana 60's are like gold over here in cali. U wont find one under $1000 that is ready to install. Im just waiting for a good deal.
I agree with everyone here. Straight axles are stonger, easier to modify and maintain, but make trucks ride and handle like sh*t. Its great for a project but I wouldn't to it on an everyday driver.
Speaking of IFS, I wonder what a lifted Expedition with the IRS and IFS would be like? It would prob cost a ton of cash to lift it but I wonder if it gets tilt or sway happy.
