Speed Limiter

Hey everyone I've got a 2001 Chevy Silverado 5.3L V8
And of course its 2001 so the speedometer goes to 100, the limiter usually kicks in between 95 and 98.

I know I can buy an ECU/ECM programmer to remove that limiter, etc.
But I am actually curious as to the true capabilities of how fast that truck will go (with some mods) before it becomes dangerous to me and harmful to itself.

And it's not so much I want to speed, but I don't like being limited to 100 mph

Any input is appreciated!

To be perfectly honest with you, I wouldn't worry about it.

The cops WILL impound your car if they clock you doing over 100mph. No questions about it. To be honest with you I don't think going 120mph for 5minutes is really going to be worth the risk. I mean its your own decision and everything, but why

Well If I was to do that I would go on a track, I wouldn't risk it on open road

You should go somewhere that has a dyno and run it on there to get a good idea of how fast your truck will go. It's cheaper than a ticket and safer than a wreck.

Good luck finding a track that your truck will hit 120mph on! I know what you want and I do not suggest you doing it! BUT if you have to do it, do it somewhere safe like Mexico. Just kidding that's kind of an inside joke on another forum I visit. Anyway I get my truck around that speed at least twice a week but I do have a very safe place to do it.

Get a tune they will set it up however you want cheapest one I know of is Wait4Me Performance.
