Speedometer is sticking and not showing true speed.

2005 SILVERADO 5.3L / Z71 / 1500

Hello! :)

As I was driving, I noticed my Speedometer was sticking. I know I was going at least 45 MPH, but the speedometer read 10 MPH on the dial!

Could this be a matter of replacing the Sending Unit? The two wires between the Transfer case and Transmission?

I'm under the assumption that this speedometer is electronic. A friend of mine told me I'd better hope this is the minor problem, and not getting into the replacement of the dash, which could be a $700.00 or $800.00 repair cost. Yeowwie!

I certainly would appreciate any help. Thank you!

i think you asked this on Chevroletforums..but the answer remains the same.

The clusters are faulty from the factory..depending on your mileage, GM will replace it for free.

I would call GM customer service and see what they can do for you before going to the dealership, they got mine replaced free of charge.

option 2 would be to send it out and have it repaired. there are a couple companies out there who do it for a reasonable price and timeframe.
