well i can see where its coming from if i grab the steering shaft comeing throu the firewall it move up and down it makes the noise .. theres a few nuts on the boot should i remove this to see if i can fix it or is the problem by the wheel? Thanks!
ssssmonte.....under the dash, where the steering column comes thru the firewall, right above the u-joint, there is a cream colored, plastic sleeve that presses into the column. this is the problem. you might not think so...but it is. we changed everything on the front end on a 2004, and the noise was still there. drove us crazy. call your GM dealer and explain the noise.they should be able to tell you the exact name of the part. I was told that some aftermarket companies make a stronger part to fix this permenently. hope this helps. part was not expensive AL
