steering linkage noise?

Default steering linkage/shaft noise?

when driving hit small bumps in road it seem like my steering column,linkage shakes and make a noise its a 2006 2500hd sierra excab 6.0 2wd anyone ever hear of this? if so whats the solution to fix? Thanks

I'd take it in and have it checked. It can be several things really, pitman arm, tie rods, ball joints or other things.

well i can see where its coming from if i grab the steering shaft comeing throu the firewall it move up and down it makes the noise .. theres a few nuts on the boot should i remove this to see if i can fix it or is the problem by the wheel? Thanks!

Absolutely, plus that will give you a better look at the steering knuckle to see if there's any problems there.

well took the boot off the firewall and all looks good. seems like the play in the shaft is up into the steering wheel under the dash. doesnt look like an easy fix.. sucks any suggestions? Thanks

ssssmonte.....under the dash,where the steering column comes thru the firewall, right above the u-joint, there is a cream colored,plastic sleeve that presses into the column. this is the problem. you might not think so...but it is. we changed everything on the front end on a 2004, and the noise was still there. drove us crazy. call your GM dealer and explain the noise.they should be able to tell you the exact name of the part. I was told that some aftermarket companies make a stronger part to fix this permenently. hope this helps. part was not expensive AL

i did see the plastic sleeve your talking about under there, will look into it further . Thanks alot!
