Towing
I am new here, so not sure if this has been asked before. I have a 20022500HD, 6.0L with towing capacitiy of 10500 lbs. I have done the following upgrades, Flowmaster muffler, AirRaid cold air intake, and Hypertech reprogramer. I just purchased a 11,200 lbs fifth wheel and need to knowif this truck will handle it. Have been pulling a 8000-9000 lbs tow trailer no problem. I don't want to go buy a new diesel, I love my truck and it's performance. Any other upgrades I can do to help or am I out of luck?

RE: Towing
I have basically the same truck and if i wanted to pull that kind of weight with mine id want to add a good set of airbags in the rear which would make handle that fifth wheel a lot better. As far as performance upgrades what you have is a good start. If it needs more maybe a set of headers, throttle body spacer and comp cams offers a set of rocker arms for the 6.0L that really helps with power.

RE: Towing
I have a bone stock 2001 2500 HDwith the 8.1L and tow my 9K fifth wheel no problems. I know it's like comparing apples to oranges but I can only relay my own experiences. It had the plow/tow package optionsthat added the transmission cooler which helps too (not sure if it is standard on all the 2500 HD's).One otherthing to consideris geographicallywhere you plan to travel. I have gone all through to the White Mountains and through the Catskillsand I know my truck worked as we went up and down the steep grades so I'm not sure I would do it with a 6.0L.Nothing excessive that I would be concerned of hurting the truck but definately could hear the beastdoing it's thing. The best was when I passed a diesel Suburban towing a trailer then pulled over in the rest area on the highway. The guy came right over as soon as he parked and wanted to know what I had under the hood.As far as suspension absolutely no upgrades there for me but the air bag or helper springs as before mentioned might not be a bad idea...
