I have a 1999 that dose the same thing. i also notice that my brothers 1999 ZR2 dose the same thing. What i want 2 no is did chevy change the steering pump between the years of 1999 and 2002 bc i have drove 2002 and they drive easier and handle much better?

its hard to say exactly but i had to put a pump on my truck at 120k cause the pump shaft broke. ive heard from a few people that the pumps on these trucks were a problem. i put a used one on and have put another thirty thousand on it and its starting to havemoments when it steers hard again. But i would definately check all the ball joints to because they could cause this problem to if they start seizing up.
