steering wheel buttons

i dont know what these do, 1 has a picture of a gas pump and the other is a road

i press them and nothing seems to happen

one is your mileage to empty i believe and the other is your trip?
not positive but i think it is
did you put an aftermarket stereo in the truck? cuz the wiring harness will by pass that if you dont buy the one that is set to go to your steering wheel.
