it looks to me like its a frame support tube that runs the lenght of the frame
as it runs the width of the frame i couldnt any real good discriptions on the web when i searched but im almost positive thats what its called and i would also suggest after you get it rewelded put some undercoating on the frame so it will help stop rusting |
i was actually planning on buying heavy duty bed liner brushing all the **** off my frame and coating my whole frame in that stuff
|
nice when i get around to it im gonna do my frame and the rockers and lower half of my truck like that after i fix all the panels that needed patched up and replaced

It sound like you can weld?
Get some new shock mounts cut the entire cross tube out and weld in a new one, with new shock mount brackets. If this is something that you can not do take it to a frame shop and they can take care of it. By the looks of your photos you may also have to weld some additional support on your frame it looks like it too may be compromised do to rust. I would not try to save any of your old rusted brackets they will only fail again and you may end up with a shock through the bottom of your bed. If this happens?? More Money! Good luck jvp |

Good luck jvp Im still going to buy myself a better truck also with no rust. When i get my mig welder actually hooked up (have no clue how to work with electrical things.) im going to keep it as a project and rip the whole bed off and work from there and add more cross support because i can get ahold of free stainless steel :) Also luckily for me the back is being supported by my leafsprings so i shouldn't have a shock rocketing though my bed lol. But im definately buying another chevy or GMC i want a durmax but those things are expensive |
