TBS

Does anyone have the K&N Intake and transdapt TBS installed on there 99-02 5.3. Was just wondering how it fit?

I don't have the K&N FIPK so my .02 cents is here say but a few guys have said that they were able to trim the intake tube a little bit. I guess they took however much off that they needed where it meets the throttle body. Plus you can trim the fan shroud a little bit as well, just make sure the air intake isn't sitting in the path of the fans before you turn it on the first time.;)

It will work, you basically have to position the CAI perfectly, then trim the fan shrould, start the engine and make sure then fan isn't hitting. Drive it and makes sure it doesn't shift towards the fan. Mine never did. I have a Airaid Knockoff CAI, but it should work the same way with a K&N.

I have the Volant CAI and ordered the Transdapt TBS. Once I installed the CAI, I decided not to intall the TBS due to lack of room - I don't want to shave anything under the hood. I will be sending my TBS back to Summit Racing.

From what I hear you dont get much if anything from them.

Yeah right. It's remarkable how much midrange power I got outta mine. I mean we're not talking groundbreaking here but for something that only cost me a whopping $62 I'm amazed.

RE: TBS

So i just finished installing my Trans Dapt TBS spacer in my truck and it seems fine.
when i intially installed it, it was pretty tight! the tube that heads to the Throttle body has a little with of a bend in it, but not a kink. im going to try and trim a bit off the end of the tube to get a full turn out of that thing, but, it works!
also there is a tiny tiny bit of contact between the fan and the intake tube, there isnt much rubbing going on right now, but im sure that over time it will make a big difference, hopefully when i shave it down it will move away from the fan.

and to answer your question !!!!! GO FOR IT, they are both worth it, i saw huge gains in throttle response from the TBS and quite a bit of power from the CAI! not to mention that it is the beggining to a more throaty sound from your engine and exhaust, with a full exhaust system you will have the ultimate sound!!!!! i would recommend it since it only cost me about 325 for both! and they are stupid easy to install.

EDIT: i just moved the intake tube a little bit closer to the front and there is about 1/8 of an inch clearance now between the fan and the tube!! GO FOR IT!
