Default which TBS should I get

I went to summit and they have two transdapt TBS for my 4.3 a sooth bore and a swirled bore. Which do you think I should get and why. I couldn't find a real difference other than they said the smooth bore one doesn't whistle.

It's all based on if you want that whistle sound or not. My Jet Performance is slightly swirled, but there is no whistle at all. I think Airaid is the loudest.

look man i have seen the dyno differences ..as i have posted a few months ago...but the smooth bore is the best performer of the bunch. just think straight flow or a swirl?? the swirl was actually proven to slow velocity down. i mean i love the swirl, and there is such a small difference it would not matter which one you get. i like both and think either is a great decision.

They say the swirls help the air get around the bends in the intake manifold.

the way they are made im sure they do. i just remember when i was dynoing my 03, i had a smooth bore given to me by a friend, and a Airaid swirled, and the airaid had like almost 2 hp and 2 ft lbs less. not like that would ever be noticeable, but for a minor bolt on it showed the difference.

I don't have a spacer on mine, but I still seem to have a whistle. It almost sounds like I have a turbo and you can only hear it when I getting higher in the RPM's. I know hunt4game has heard it. Does anyone know what could cause that?

superdd - are you sure there is no air leak? That will give you a whistle.

Is there any easy way to find an air leak? I've never worked on one before so I don't really know what I'm looking for.

i know an old trick my dad used back in the day, and that was spray carb cleaner all over your intake tubing, if it picks up on the idle, you have a leak, if you hear no change in tone, you are good.

I've heard that old trick too. Check are you seals and clamps. Make sure your clamps are fasten down well. If you have a leak, what better excuse to get a CAI!!
