Hi everybody,
Im looking at buying a 1995 GMC Sierra, with 133k miles. It looks really clean, and I was leaning toward it, until a friend of mine told me that even though the engine says vortec, it really isn't, it's more of a cross over. Can anyone tell me anything about that engine? THANKS!

 

It doesn't say vortec on it. The small and big block vortec's did not come out until 1996. There was an earlier 4.3 V-6 vortec, but I think they only came in the s-10 blazers and jimmy's.

 

Actually it does say Vortec on the airbox. It looks a little different than the vortec that was in my 97, that's why I'm wondering.
