Temperature Gauge Problems

Hi, I just installed an AFE Stage 2 CAI (sounds great btw) on my 2004 Silverado (5.3) and now my temperature gauge doesn't want to work right. When I first start it up it will work for a few seconds then just drop to 160 and stay there.

I made sure everything was reconnected and I'm just about out of ideas. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I am not familiar with this company, but this appears to be unrelated to the CAI. Check all wiring to check for a loose wire or ground.

Would it be possible that its a problem with my MAF? Because thats really the only thing that was disconnected during the install. I don't remember really touching anything else.

Do you have an intake air temperature sensor? That is the only thing that I can think of other than if your temp sending unit is not all the way plugged in or that sensor may be going bad.

No, I don't believe I do. Do you know where I would be able to find my temperature sending unit?

Not exactly for your truck, Argon or somebody else that has one of those trucks might be able to help you. I know it will be in the coolant tract somewhere on the engine.

Well, wierdest thing today... I start up my truck and after a few minutes of driving, my temp gauge is working again.

Oh well, hopefully it keeps working. Thanks for the replies.
