Temperature Gauge stuck at 160 degrees.

My 2004 Chevy Silverado 2500HD has temperature gauge stuck at 160 degrees. I have replaced thermostat, flushed the coolant so far. Truck does not appear to be driving any differently but gauge is stuck. I am looking for other areas to troubleshoot, any thoughts?

Most likely the gauge is bad and it's part of the instrument cluster. GM instrument clusters are a problem for many years. My 04 GMC has been replaced twiced.

It's a Voltmeter

If you can get the cover off, see if it will move. Then turn on the key and see if it moves on its own...if it doesn't, consider it an excuse to replace gauges.

Except...have you checked the voltage at the temp sender? Your gauge is really just a voltmeter with a differently painted face and the sender a variable resistor. Make sure you have juice flowing down the wire before you do anything else.

I filled my water and the temp went to 160 and the fan runs more. Is it safe to drive?
