I am considering purchasing a 2015 Chevy Silverado . I was told it has a trailering package and 5.3 l v8 it a 1500 series. 3.42 rear axle ratio I want to know if I will have any issues and is this truck able to tow 8000 lb camping trailer

 

Personally, I would opt with a little higher gear ratio such as a 3.73. The weight doesn't really bother me because we towed a 10,000lb horse trailer with a 2003 5.3l GMC for quite a while. It took a bit to get going, but with the right sway linkage and trailer brakes it was fine.
