Hi Guys...

I have a 2005 Chevy 1500 4x4. I used to be able to hit the "trailer tow" button at anytime and the yellow pic of a trailer would come on the dash etc.

NOW... it only works when the truck is in park.

Any thoughts?

Sounds like one of the wires in the shifter collumn thing has come apart and only makes a connection when the lever is all the way up. This is just my logic speaking...

 

Yes this is common. In the steering column there is an orange wire that runs near the manual gear selector and will get caught up in there. It will eventually stop working. No worries. Reconnect the two wires in the orange insulation. Doesn't matter which is which.
