Tranny cooler
Is there such a thing as too large a tranny cooler? I don't mean using an engine radiator. Is there a point which the tranny is running too cool? I would like to install the biggest one I can find in an attempt to lengthen the life of my transmision.

RE: Tranny cooler
It won't run too cool..
the fluid path (if its installed correctly) is for the hot oil to cool in front of the radiator, then go thru the radiator to warm back up as it heads back to the tranny |
RE: Tranny cooler
Following that path, if I'm pulling a load and the trans. gets hot I could raise raise the temp of the engine coolant? Or, no it's not enough to affect it? Do you think I am wasting money installing a larger cooler?
I don't pull a load very often, but, when I do it's either for a long distance (600 miles) or very heavy, never both. |
RE: Tranny cooler
sure it can raise the engine temp...
i'd put a decent sized one on..shop around and find 1 made for your truck, where you don't have to cut your lines |
RE: Tranny cooler
