Hi I have a 2009 Silverado 1500 5.3 truck that has some transmission issues. Sometimes my truck will go into neutral after taking off from a stopped position and I have to stop in the road and put it into park then back into drive again and it's fine it takes off no problem. Only done it a few times in the past several months. Also had the transmission go into 4wd by itself once. The **** was still set to 2wd when it went in 4×4. Had to pull over off road and turn **** into 4wd hi then back to 2wd to get 4wd to disengage. Any ideas what is wrong? Hoping someone knows what this could be? Transmission fluid was fine.

 

How many miles on the truck, what transmission, and what tcase? Are you sure it's the tranny going into neutral? The transfer case could also have neutral and if the actuator is going out, it could be shifting inadvertently. Or what can also happen is bearings in the tcase go out and the slop allows inadvertent shifting. I had one shift into 4lo while driving at 60 mph, blew the planetary to pieces.
