trip meter

On my 99 silverado every time the key is turned off the trip meter resets to 0.0 it works normaly as far as logging miles but will not retain the mileage when the key is off. Any suggestions???

Welcome to TRUCK FORUMS Gunner

I'm not totally familiar with the 99 Silverado gauge cluster.
But by the sounds of it... Your trip meter is loosing the ignition power (12V) when the key is turned off.
The trip meter needs power in order to prevent it from resetting.

I think you will be needing a new cluster since it is a cicuit board on the back side of the cluster. Maybe it could just be like Glen (In2Trux) said and it is just loosing the constant 12V power source like a bad wire or a bad ground. Good Luck and Welcome to the site. Keep us posted on what you find.

welcome to the site and keep us posted on what you find out
also is you truck the late model style 99 or the newer style 99
depending on what model style it is you may be able to find one at a jukyard for cheaper then buying from a dealership
by later model i mean if its the sae body style as the 88-98
as my dads suburban is the same body style as the 90-98
