Truck Bed Cargo Nets - Opinions?

Hi! I'm new around here, and I sadly don't even have a truck. But I'm in need of your opinions and experience!

My Dad wants one of those spider web-like cargo nets for his truck bed (short bed Silverado). Anyone have any experience with them?

Which ones are good?
Which ones are bad?
What features should I look for?

I would prefer to shop local (as opposed to online) in case he wants to return/exchange it. But, I'd go online for the "perfect" net! Locally, we have Shucks Auto, Joes, and your standard big box retailers. No Autozone =(

Price is not a concern!

The most expensive (so I'm assuming best) that's on Shucks' website is the "Keeper" Cargo Net (http://www.keepercorp.com/prod/cn.htm) which looks fairly nice, but the price ($25) seems too cheap! Any experience with this one?

Thanks for any insight you can provide!! :)

Honestly there is nothing expensive about them, its just a net! So $25 would be right around what they would retail for anyway. Ever think about the chrome cargo extenders? Or even a "tailgate fence" like this:

Why would he want a net? A bed extender, as previously mentioned, is a better alternative. Where I live, you can't have a net instead of a solid tailgate anyway.

Why would he want a net?
He wants a net because he frequently loads a LOT of stuff in his truck bed (going camping, hunting, taking trash to the dump, etc) and he doesn't want it all flying out on the freeway! He has a solid tailgate.

Man, jcormier, I didn't know that Mythbusters busted that one about tailgates and MPG! [8D] Crazy!

Sorry, I misunderstood. I thought you were talking about a tailgate net! To keep stuff in my box, I tie down a tarp.

Camper tops help keep the rain off your stuff.

A tonneau cover puts weight on the rear of a truck for more traction. Less wheel spin is a better start off the line.

and they look ALOT better. its def more expensive than just a net though.

Is this worth the price?

This is an old thread, but my spider web didn't do the trick holding my cargo down either.

I do a lot of camping and my kids small sleeping bags actually flew out of the bed of my truck last year through the large netting in my spider net.

Does anyone have any recommendations besides the over priced tonneau covers?

Has anyone used this cargo net?
