Turn Signal Issue

i have an '04 sierra, 2500 HD. 6.0L, crew cab, 6' bed, electronic telescoping mirrors and approaching 90K miles. and i have an issue with my left turn signal. at times lately, my left turn signal has been acting up. when i flip it on, i get both turn signals going off at the same time as if i had turned on the hazard lights. the right turn signal has not had this problem. the hazard effect also turns off after a turn as if it was functioning perfectly fine as a normal turn signal. this is not a problem that happens all the time however. some times, i when i turn it on and they act up, i just turn it back off and back on again, and it works fine. once or twice in the last few weeks that did not fix it and i just gave up and the next day it was kinda working again. id say about 75% of the time, they function correctly and the other 25% they do not.

has anyone else encountered this problem before? thanks in advance.

sounds like one of 2 things is happening: A: the left signal has a ground problem and it is "searching" for a ground or B: the signal switch has an issue internally and needs to be replaced.....option A is cheaper and easy to check.

thank you for the reply. how would i go about checking the ground? is it in the steering column or more in the area of the markers? i have never tore apart anything inside the cab

The grounds are out at the lights. If you are gonna start digging into wiring you might as well check ALL the grounds to ALL the lights. I have been known to cut the grounds and "give" it a good ground, just because. Had to do this on my old body style truck once.
