How do I find out the type of 5.3 liter I have. As in the 295hp, 305hp, of 327hp? 2005 Silverado 2wd. Ext cab. LT fully loaded.

look in your glove box at the rpo codes. lm7 is the standard iron block iron head 295 hp 5.3, l59 is the same just e85 capable. im not sure of what the ho 5.3 code is but it would be 310hp. those were rare throughout 05-06. there was no 305 or 327hp 5.3. the new 5.3's are 315.

good luck

Do you have AFM? (where it runs on 4 cylinders) If it does then it would be a Gen IV engine and the RPO code would be LH6. If it doesn't then it would be a Gen III and the RPO code is L33. You can go search these RPO codes online and probably come across somewhere that tells you the hp/tq of them. Good luck to you and I hope this was of some help.
