USB and Flash Drive Question on 2011 Chevy Stereo

Hi.. I'm enjoying the ability to plug in a flash drive and listen to MP3's on my new 2011 Silverado. The question I have for any computer geeks out there - the order that the radio plays/displays the songs is different than the way the MP3 songs are arranged on the flash drive. Even when I change the MP3 files around on the flash drive, nothing changes on the stereo.

It's no big deal, just would be nice to have the play order of the songs arranged the way I like them or the way they originated on a CD. Is there a way to make that happen?

Try assorting them in folders as playlists. Like make one for Hip Hop, another for Rock, etc.

Thanks for the reply, but I already have done that. The folders' order is arbitrary as well and can't be changed. I'm thinking there must be some function that the radio looks at the organize how songs are ordered.. just need to know what it is.

Not to revive an old thread, but I had the same thing with my last mp3 truck stereo... come to find out the sort order was based completely on the order the songs were added to the usb stick (i.e., the added date/time). So the only way I could get the songs ordered the way I wanted was to add them to the usb stick one at a time in the order I wanted them to be played. Pain in the butt, honestly, but worth a check to see if that's the issue.

Yes, that's kind of what I thought as well. I guess my question is if there's a way to change the tag date on the mp3.

I'm not too sure... I couldn't find a way with the tags, but I can honestly say I didn't give it a tremendous amount of effort.

One promising thing, though, was after I traded in my last truck I heard that they came out with a firmware update for that stereo that you could simply load on a usb stick and apply that would resolve the issue. Does the stereo manual give any options for upgrading the firmware?

Might be worth looking into anyway.

Thanks for that! I'll check it out with the dealer when I go in for an oil change. :)
