vibration
just put new tires on my 99 half ton silverado and it vibrates and wanders all over the road now. I had BFG all terrains before and they were great. I put on tires made by cooper now that are 10 ply tires which is overkill for a 1/2 ton but thought it would be OK. I have heard of a frame vibration that was common with chevys, could this be the problem? I have had the tires rebalanced and rotated. I also put 200 lbs in the back and the vibration is still there. Is my only option to buy new tires? Have any of you guys run a 10 ply BFG and had these problems?
Thanks

Might be your drive line needs rebalancing. Drive shaft can cause a vibration along with a worn carrier bearing. The bigger tires you have put on will put more of a strain on this componnets. Also your tire pressure should be at about 5 lbs under manufacture specs.
When they were balanced did they zero out on the machine. My father just put new Cooper Cobra's on his Tahoe (from Tire Kingdom). He complained about a vibration and took it back. They supposedly rebalanced them and sent him on his way. He still complained to me about a slight vibration. I drove the truck and it was far from a slight vibration (the whole dash was shaking). I took it back to Tire Kingdom and told the guy either they were not balanced or we had a bad tire. After much resistance from the manager he pulled the truck back in and with much attitude told me he was going to balance them in front of me. The FREAKIN idiot who balanced the tires TWICE (same idiot) never bothered to balance the rears. He balanced them and guess what...It was fine. The guy had the nerve to tell me "I never balance the rears". I don't think he is working there anymore!
I also run 10 Ply on my HD truck and they are harder to balance according to my tire guy because of their weight, but if the tires are true they can be done. I would take them back and see if the guy will balance them in front of you. If you bought them new from them and they won't "zero" out on the machine than I would ask for new tires.
I was surprised on my fathers truck how bad they vibrated from less than an ounce out of balance on both rear tires. Also those 10 ply tires are going to give you a different feel. They definitely ride stiffer - especially certain brands. I have Bridgestones on mine and they ride very smooth for a 10 ply.

Yeah 10 ply will be harder but dependable with loads. So you need to make sure with an empty load the tires are at recommended psi. If you have the max psi in them with empty load, you loose traction, bad wheel hopping, braking is worse.
Well I went down and had my tires road force balanced and they were way off and there was no options to get them within tolerance. I bought a new set of BFG all terrains and my truck is now smooth as silk and no more wandering down the road. I should of never tried to buy something different than BFG's. Lesson Learned
