Default Vinyl Bench Seat

For you youngsters out there, vinyl bench seat was standard equipment on all pickup trucks right up until the 1980's. Cloth was the upgrade option.

I realize down south where it is hot all the time, cloth has an advantage.

But vinyl is so easy to clean. Ever spill coffee on a cloth seat? Yes there is Scothgard and all that stuff. But the coffee or any drink has to go someplace.

Now, it is practically impossible to order a new truck with vinyl seats, never mind find one in a dealer lot.

And at looking at new Chevrolet pickup trucks it is impossible to order vinyl seat AND power windows. Can't be done.

Anyone have a dog with cloth seats? Some of that cloth, it is impossible to vacuum everything out. Never mind allergies.

Now, GM in it's infinite wisdom offers only one color in vinyl. Black. Or Titanium as they call it.

It is a sad day for those who want vinyl seats. Leather? That stuff cracks and dries out over time. Good when new. Expensive to replace.

In the old days one could option out the different colored vinyl seats. Sadly, just one color for Chevrolet today in vinyl seat material.

Wait . . . does Ford offer tan in vinyl?

i like cloth... leather gets to hot and cold, and vinyl does too... plus cloth lasts a lot longer than leather (not sure about vinyl, im only 18)

I won't argue the clean-up issue...vinyl does wipe off easy..but those of us over 40...pretty much all of us probably "punched a hole" in our vinyl at one time...a pen...knife...etc sticking out of a pocket...

Ronco or whoever was always selling "vinyl repair kits"...I think ya got a free oven mitt if you ACTED NOW

I prefer the cloth option too. I find that chevy's leather creases and cracks after a couple years. I just wish I had heated seats some days.

Yeah the heated seats are great, and as far as an issue with keeping cloth clean, ever heard of seat covers? Wow, what a great idea.
