All gauges reading normal, however while the engine is running im getting a noise. The noise seems like an exhaust leak but not a doughnut gasket, i lost on this one. Sounds like a whirling air noise, ive never heard it till last week.

Dose it sound like a vacuum leak? What kind of truck do you have?

 

Weird noises are harder enough to figure out in person, let alone over the internet. The more details the better...

Yes it sounds like a turbo whistle. I have a 99 silverado 4WD 5.3 engine. it doesnt make the noise all the time. just here an there.

In my opinion, if its not happening often and if you have no hassles while driving, then i think you should just ignore it. I had a similar problem 8-9 months ago. But it gradually decreased and now its running fine without me doing any thing great.
But might be a different problem with your car. Ignore it at your own risk...

 

Could it be the fan with a bad fan clutch acting up?

 

i had the same thing and i found it to be my vacume line out of my intake manifold to my brake booster

 

Posted some time ago about a "air or whirling" noise coming from front of my z71. Last week my PS went out, from the front of the truck the pulley on the far left came off the belt came off as well. My brother had to put a new belt and tensioner on the front cost me about $80 for belt and tensioner from Chevrolet (he works for Chevy) he got autozone belt but the tensioner autozone had was plastic so he got a steel one from chevy.

noise is gone.
