Wheels on 06 Z71

I've got a stock '06 Z71 crew cab. Time for some new tires and was wondering the largest I could go without any rubbing? Can I do a +1 size with all-terrain tires?
Currently stock 265/70/17.
BTW, it's a 1500.

285/70/17 on stock wheels as is
295/70/17 on stock wheels with a leveling kit

Thanks for the info. I'm afraid this is where my question becomes a little more technical...
I've decided to install a 2.5" ReadyLift leveling kit, drop down to a 16x8 rim and go with a 33x11.5 (285/75/16) tires.
The ReadyLift fitment guide says a wheel with a 5" backspace (on 8" rim) should be used. The three rims I am looking at have a 4", 4.26", and 4.5" backspace.
Does anyone know if I will run into a rubbing issue with any of these and if so, how much? Slight rubbing at full turn on inner fender well is acceptable. In fact, my stock '01 Ranger Off Road had this problem off the lot.
Also, without me pulling the wheel to measure, does anyone know the backspace on the stock Z71 wheel?

not sure on the backspacing, little technical for my head. But you will not be able to run 16" wheels on an 06. they made the brakes larger, so thats why they went to 17" wheels. you would have to grind down your front calipers alot to get them to clear a 16" wheel

P vs LT tires

Excellent advice. Never thought about the brake size.

I installed the torsion keys and it did effect the ride quality (even at 1.75") even though mfgr. said it wouldn't. Anyway, staying with stock rims and will go with the 285s.
Can any one tell me the difference between P-metric and LT-metric tires? It seems anything over 265 only comes LT. I ordered a set of LT285 BFGs but then the shop said they wouldn't install them on my truck since it has P265s. I guess some liability issues.
Am I stuck with a stock tire size? Is there a safety factor involved?

P=passenger
LT=Light Truck

do not go with a p series on a truck. they arent designed for loads. go with a load range C or D in an LT series tire.

The shop is retarded. go to another one. they probably are just pissed you didnt buy the tires from them. my local tire shop installed my 295/70/17's on stock alloys without issue
