zx06 cam
My friend and I are looking for a couple of stock ZX06 cams. We heard that tehy create a great amount of torque on the lowend side. He has a 4.8 and I have a 5.3. Anyhow is there any truth to this rumor and of course what are teh pros and cons of this adventure? Will this cm work in our trucks? His is a 2000 Chevy Silverado 4.8 and I have a 2004 GMC Sierra 5.3.I will appreciate any feedback. [sm=smiley34.gif]

RE: zx06 cam
The Z06 cam is a great cam for both, sounds abit aggressive in the 4.8 though both can be done with no other mods needed except a re-tune for the cam. I dont think you really gain that much low end but I know the mid-top end performance is mostly where its at and people I talk to recommend looking for a 02 and up spec'd cam.

RE: zx06 cam
z06 have a lot of lift in the cam dont they? like almost .600 which is goin to be more tha 5.3 would be able to handle i think. i could be wrong on this though.

RE: zx06 cam
The Z06 cam will work just fine in the 5.3, I dont think the lift is that high but Ive seen guys running .588 cams in the 5.3s and 6.0s and they seem to be just fine but Im pretty sure you need to change your lifters and springs when you do the cam. Im not totally sure if that is necessity(sp) but most of the cases Ive seen when they change the cam they change all that too.
