International 4700
 

I am entirely new to trucking and I just bought a 2001 International 4700 DT466e. This truck has been parked for 2 years.
I will be hauling feed and fertilizer with it, each bag weighing 25kg. The truck is completely factory spec with the Eaton 5 speed gearbox.


How much tons would be recommended that I could haul with this config, and or what would I need to change to be able to haul more as I am being paid per bag.

From what I learned working at a tool and die shop, most trucks can haul everything you need, the issue is going to be the local laws.

I know in Michigan, with a truck of that configuration, the front axle weight cannot exceed 15,400lbs and the rear cannot exceed 18,000lbs.

My suggestion would be to find a friend with a large scale and play around for a bit

So based on what you said, and the laws, you could carry 33400lbs with that truck in Michigan? Is that how it is calculated?

I would check your ownership. Find out what your GVWR
Take your truck to a truck scale (full of fuel) and weight it.
Subtract that amount from your GVWR and that is how much you can load.
Be sure to balance the load and not let your front axle exceed 12,000lbs
