1999 Dodge Dakota R/T
 

im a new member and i drive a 1999 Dodge Dakota R/T. i wanna know how much horse power does this ride have because my friend said that this was the year they started to put the viper engine in the R/T. i just wanna know how much torque and horse power its got. its got a V8 engine. im only 17 i live in la i put at least 40 miles a day on it, maybe more but now the little check engine light is turned on i dont know if i should get it checked out or does someone know what it means.

The Dakotas have a V-8,while the Viper runs a V-10.No factory V-10's for the Dak.As far as your check engine light goes,could be a multitude of different reasons why its on.SO far every time mine has come on has been due to the O2 sensor going bad.(has 3)Most BIG auto part stores will hook up a meter to it and tell ya what the code is.Hope this helps.

yes, pepboys, autozone, etc will help you with the CEL code...

like dak said, there has never been a stock V10 dakota, but there have been V10s put into them by private owners, with a TON of work.
