Dakota v6 or v8?

I am looking at buying a dodge dakota, a new one, and I was just woundering, how big is the difference in fuel economy between the v8 and v6? The reason fuel economy is somewhat important is because I am only 19 and will be going to school fora year, with not so much income, if I thought I could afford it i would go buy a brand new full size lol. But I cant, any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks. Jon

RE: Dakota v6 or v8?

Well for what I have seen around 4.7 Dakota get around 13ish to about 16ish.
3.7 semm to be 15ish to 18ish. My 3.7 is four door 4x4 and gets about 17 all the time I drive alot of hwy.

RE: Dakota v6 or v8?

I own a 2007 Dakota quad cab with a 4.7 V8 and I am getting between 15.4 and 16.6 mpgin town and on the highway I am getting between 18.6 and 21.5 mpg. Alot of this depends on your own driving habits.I used to have a 3.7 V6 and I can tell you that it takes alot more effort to pass another auto with the V6 and that there really is not that much difference in the mpg!:)

yea if i were you honestly i would go with the v8... i have a v6 and i get ****ty gas mileage, its a 22 gallon tank and i get an average of 275 to 300 miles to a tank. i used to have a 06 V8 F-150 and i wish i had it back bc I'm getting worse MPG in my dakota and way less power. The V6 dakota is only 210 hp so it does take a lot more effort to pass and accelerate!

the v8 has more power, also if your looking to mod it later when you do have money, the after market for a newer v8 compared to the v6 is greater, so get the v8 fuel economy is about the same, and the v8 has that extra power.

Its fuel consumption is not so good as I have already sold out that just because of its poor mileage.
