slow 99 Dakota R/T 5.9
 

I just got a new 99 Dakota R/T and I love everything about the truck except for its lack of power. Transmition shifts to second at 5200 rpms and into third about 4750. This is a problem, but besides that it feels like it s not pulling at all. What MODs can I do to make this feel like it has 360 cu in's. You know its a v8 by the noise only not the performance. Please Help Me. The only thing I'v checked is if the exhust was parly clogged but its not and the pcm for codes neather are a problem.

where do you live?

The 4.7 will run every bit as well as the 5.9. look into headers, a bigger throttle body, cold air intake, and a performance computer, to name a few.

Quick fix....buy a Chevy with a 5.3....maybe if you scrap the stickers off the back window you'll drop 200lbs off your weight.

I have also noticed the lack of top end power.Kinda hard to miss actually.I am going to start with a set of headers,and intake,with a performance t-body and see how that goes.
