Default Diesel, V-10 or a 5.9?

Help! I have been a little boy with a bowtie and my last one was a blue oval. I really think it's time that I thought about a Mopar!!!! I will be getting a used 3/4 or 1 ton. What engine should I get? I tow a 21K 5th wheel trailer. It's heavy so I need something to do it good. I heard that the V-10 has about the same h/p and torque as the 5.9L so I should get the 5.9 cuz of gas mileage. I was also told that the Hemi doesn't start pulling till 2K and gets about 10-12 mpg. The Cummins gets great gas mileage and the V-10 gets about 10mpg. Have I been told rumors? What is right? Please help me to get the right truck.

I've only heard of bad gas mileage figures from both of the gasoline engines. I've driven a diesel Cummins on a trip for my boss. I was only pulling a car on a trailer, but the gas mileage dropped by roughly zero. I got 19mpg with & without the trailer. Plus, the diesel didn't feel like it was struggling to pull the truck/trailer combo any more than if the truck was driving with nothing. If you're gonna tow a 21K pound trailer, swallow the price of diesel & get the better mileage & stronger engine.

scca1977, thank you for your input. Now I have to convince the wife but I think you are right. Thank again.
