Low speed stalling after major tune.

Recently I tuned up a 1995 Dodge Ram 1500, after plugs, rotor, cap, and wires it has developed a bad habit of stalling at speeds equal to granny gear, a creep speed. The engine will falter and the rpm's will drop to zero, sometimes it will stall out and sometimes it will recover, very annoying in traffic at a light. No starting problems, with normal acceleration and cruising at all other times.

Can anyone shed some light on this? My mechanic says take it to the dealer, he can't figure it out.

Thanks, Gold Auto

do you have the parts that you took off still?? i would think it may be an issue with the new parts..maybe a bad coil wire or plug wire...or a bad dist cap...

I agree I get a bad new part a least once a day at work, it happens.

Thanks for the input guys, but that doesn't solve this one. I took it to a mechanic and he thought it might be a restricted vac line someplace, he checked and I checked but found nothing.

I tried surfing and searching and the only thing I came up with was a comment that the plug wires need to be replaced exactly as original. Now there's a fine bit of information, the distributor cap is against the firewall and nearly burried, I can almost see where the lock down bolts are to remove them and when you remove the plug wires from the birds nest, how would you ever get them back exactly where they were? All I need now is a diagram or instruction of what the standards are for this repair. Lucky me I broke the rear wire tree that holds all the wires in place. Life goes on!!

are you certain that the cap is in the same position as it was before you changed it? if you have the cap turned at all, you throw the timing out of whack....
