Maybe a rebuild of the rear end?
Hey guys. Got a quick question.
I am almost positive that the problem is my rear end but here it goes: When I am driving my truck, at any speed about about, oh, 30 MPH, it starts to make a noise much like something out of the depths of hell. Like a hollow moaning is about the only way I can explain it. It only does it when I am going fast, and in gear, but if I put it in neutral and am moving, it doesn't do it. The truck drives fine, and runs fine as well, other then this. Could I be wrong in the assumption of it being the rear end. If it is the rear end, is it worth replacing the pumpkin and maybe rebuilding it or should I just swap in another one from a donor truck? It doesn't seem to be a big issue as of yet as the truck is still going, but I would hate to be stranded out in the middle of no where because of it. Any help is appreciated! |

RE: Maybe a rebuild of the rear end?
i thinki it is the rear end too. get a second opinion(in person) on your car's glitches. it can't hurt.

Hey guys. Thanks for the replies. I do appreciate them, even if there is still only speculation.
I did us all a favor and took a video of the noise. The video seems like it gives the noise off pretty well, as long as you listen carefully. You can tell it definitely is NOT the exhaust, as it doesn't sound like it is revving as far as the RPM's go, but staying at a constant note along with the spinning of the tires (and no, it is not tire noise, as these are just street tires). Anyway, here is the video: |
