New to Forum, Headers question..

Hello everyone, am new to this forum. Hope I can get a whole lot of help and input from you, and will be happy to assist anyone here as well!

So, here is my first question to you guys. As it stands now, I just had a new exhaust system put on my 2001 dodge ram 1500. I had a 3" inlet/outlet magnaflow hi-flo cat installed that dumps into a single 3" inlet and dual 2 1/2" outlet Flowmaster Super 44 mufflers that exits in a "dual sweep" with 22" long magnaflow tips. To be honest, the system BARKS, and I am just in love with it. So much so, I would like to make it even better by adding in some headers later down the road. Heres my question though. A lot of people speculate its stupid to run a y-pipe off of performance headers because they think it defeats the purpose, is this true? Others have suggessted running a dual in/ single out catalytic converter to elimiinate a y-pipe, but would this really help that much more?? Let me know what you guys think!
