Question Suspension Question 2009 Dodge Ram 1500

I have a 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 Crew Cab (Larmie) with a Hemi Engine and I am towing a 7500lb Travel Trailer the problem is the trailer is weighing down my truck so much in the rear that on Hills I am Draging the Trailer Tung What is the best option to increase the Suspension so I will not drag the trailer on hills? I was thinking about putting a 6" Lift kit in the truck but not sure???

Are you using a weight distribution hitch. I have a 2009 Dodge 1500 and tow a 6500 lb. trailer and I don't get sag but I use a weight distribution hitch. If your trailer is set up correctly for towing, you should not have over 10-15% of the total trailer weight on the tounge. I would hightly recomment taking your trailer to a scale and getting actual weights of the trailer on each axle and of the tounge separately

I agree with the comment on the WDH. I pull a 31 ft 7,000+ trailer with no issue. It does load down the back end some. But, not a big deal, (My WDH is rated at 10,000 lbs capacity)

Check the tow rating of your specific truck via the VIN number. Mine is rated at 10,400. I have a QC 4x4 Hemi with the 3.92 gear and 17 inch wheels. If you're running 20 inch tires and a 3.55 gear you will not be able to tow as much. Do take note: A lift kit, especially at 6 inches, will not make things better and may hurt your towing ability.

Because my truck has the heavy tow package I suspect I may have heavier rated springs. My suggestion for you is to look into a set of add-on air bags. I've seen other 1500 RAM's using these with good results

I would also suggest you to use some air bags. Have a safe ride.
