Question Unexpected RPM Surge when slowing down?

Hello folks,

I hope someone can give me a hand with this one:

I have a 2008 RAM with a V6 and automatic tranny, but as far as I can remember, when it is slowing down (with my foot off the gas pedal), it downshifts from one gear to the next lower one, and as it does, it actually revs up to about 1400 RPM for an instant, and then returns to idle.

Any idea of how abnormal this is? Is it common?

Please help me if you can. Thanks.
Infante

Are these equipped with a towhaul feature? It sounds like it is slowing just like it should if the vehicle is stuck in towhaul.

Question

Yes it has a tow/haul feature, but it does it wether this feature is on or off. Basically, the engine revs up while slowing down, as if down shifting a stick shift vehicle, but this truck is automatic.

Thanks,
Infante

I'm thinking that it may be stuck on or something. I would try running with it on to see if there is any difference when slowing. Hopefully someoen else will chime in soon. There's not many Dodge guys on the site so bear with us please!
