can't get my tranny back together!! please help!!
 

went to disconnect the tranny from the transfer case out of my 98 dodge ram and i accidentally disconnected the wrong part on the transmission, i disconnected it one spot closer to the engine than i should have and now my transmission is in two parts. i tried sliding the two back together but now i can seem to get them to fit all the way together. there is like a 1 inch gap between the two and I tried a couple times to get them together with no luck. I'm new to transmissions so any help would be amazing! thanks!
ps, in the pic it is the part just to the right of the black oil pan.
