white smoke coming from exhaust
hello, I would really appreciate it if someone can help with my question. I have a 2003 dodge ram 1500 8cylinder 5.7. I have to have my catalyc converter replaced, could this be the reason for the white smoke coming from exhaust? What is the best converter to purchase for my year/model?
Thank you |

I agree white smoke normally means blown head gasket
|
headgasket jog is first option, & secondly may be change with latest from company dealers.

When the vehicle is idling walk around the back by the exhaust if you can not smell oil burning or do not notice a sweet smell do not worry about it. If you do notice a sweet smell it is because you have antifreeze leaking into the exhaust system either from a bad head gasket or a crack in the head or block. Hope this answer helps

Is the white smoke was come before you replace the converter?
Same problem i have in my 2006 dodge, the white smoke come at the time of morning when I start my truck. After 10 min it stops coming white smoke because of engine warms up. |
Head gasket is blown dude, no doubt about it. common issue with them. if you want to keep the truck, put the stud kit on the head to eliminate that, then install the EGR bypass kit...
|
Kindly check rings in the engine whether worn, if it is then needs to replaced, or may be there is problem with head gasket, check the same.

It could be either a head gasket or an intake gasket. Regardless of which one is the culprit,it sounds like you have water in your engine.
