Diesel Exhaust..... touchy subject...

I've looked on forum after forum and even talked with my mechanic buddies and all ive gotten is the run around, no straight answers. I'm a noobie when it comes to diesel engines (this is the only diesel truck ive ever owned and i bought it last friday... lol)

The topic im throwing out there for yall this time is, What are the pros and cons to straight piping my 5.9 liter 24V Cummins? Will i lose fuel milage, horsepower, or torque? And also will I put myself at risk of over-spooling the Holset turbo?

And also, what size pipe would be reccomended for straight piping? I would imagine staying with the stock pipe size and just adding a larger diameter tip on the business end but i really have no idea.

Or should i just stick with a muffler or resonator (whatever it does)?

Thanks for any help yall, im running short on knowledge here so i could use some good solid info!

I saw a guide some were on what size pipes to use on your dirty diesel based on the hp your making.
I'll keep looking and post it when I find it

Thanks! I would greatly appreciate it if you could find that again and post it here.

Well, i believe ive made up my mind. after considering a 4" dual straight pipe set up, and dual 8" aussie style stacks im just gonna go with a single 4" straight pipe out the passender side with a 5-6" tip. hopefully i will have time to get it done next weekend! will post pictures when its done

Well, still no exhaust mods. a few things came up and i couldnt get it done yet. Ive been looking at MBRP and AFE turbo back kits in 4" and 5". Hope to have the exhaust done soon! Not sure when though. However like i said previously i will be posting pics of it when it gets done and I'll probably make a youtube video of it and put it up and post the link here.

Well, These are the only pics I could snap while at the muffler shop in town. I decided to just go with a muffler delete for now. It still has the resonator in place and has a piece of 3" pipe welded in place of the muffler. It sounds alot better, its much louder, has a pretty deep tone, and the sound of the turbo is more deffined.

I still plan to go with a 5" MBRP turbo back straight pipe kit soon, but I had this done right now because its all I can afford at the time

There's really matter a difference for Diesel engine or other bio-fuel engine. First it produces a lot of heat than the other one which cause irritation for the passengers and the driver also. But this capable of driving heavy engines than Patrol and cause more smoke, Ultimately more pollution.
