Slipping Transmission (2001 Ram 2500 5.9 24 valve)

The transmission is slipping in the Ram, its got the 5.9 liter 24 valve cummins with an automatic transmission. It drives fine and ive only had this happen twice. When you come to a stop then try to take off the gears will not re-engage until you shift the tranny manually into another gear like reverse then back into gear and press the accelerator. Any advice or opinions are greatly appreciated.

Update: I had the transmission slip problem again recently... right after my factory headunit went out, it no longer turns on but if you hit a bunch of buttons the clock will appear for a few seconds then go back out. And also the blinkers wont engage with the lever. And the A/C doesn't cool. I think I may be experienceing some electrical issues...

Anyone got any ideas? Help greatly needed and appreciated!

From the research I've done and the talking I've done with mechanics in the past week I've come to the conclusion that the factory head unit just went out and needs to be replaced, the multi-function switch in the steering columb needs replaced, and the transmission needs to be checked, flushed, re-filled with high quality ATF, and a code scanner ran on the truck.
