Default 1991 f150 maximum RPM?

Can someone tell me what the red line RPM is on a 1991 Ford F150 with a 5.0l v8? And is there a rev limiter on this truck? Whenever I downshift and the RPM hits 3700, the engine starts cutting out before it will shift up. I would think that the transmission should shift out before any rev limiter would kick in. I'm used to working on pre 1980 vehicles without computers, so I'm having to learn fast! Any help will be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks...

Should be around the 6000 range. Its com. controlled. Check fuel press.
