I just bought a f150 from texas the other day, and brought it up here to nebraska. And I see alot of these trucks this year, make and model rusted out. Well mines spot less, and hasbeen babied since day 1. What can I do to keep it this way. It has to sit outside most the time, and just dont want it to start to look like alot of the 92's I see around! Any advice would help me.

 

I hate taking vehicles up north because you guy put salt on the road they rust horribly fast up there, get some rustoleum paint and paint all of the bare metal parts, I live right on the salt water so I have to deal with rust year round. Wash your truck regularly also, not only does it make it look good if also helps to fight rust, don't forget about paint jobs, they are also apart of general upkeep, kinda like changing your spark plugs once every what 10k-30k miles, depending on the type of plugs you have a new base paint job it recomended once every 5-8 years, atleast a new clear coat anyways. If you just take general care of your vehicle it will stay nice, and you won't have to worry about rust too much, once again if you really want to make it easy move out of the north and get to a place without snow.

Possibly look into rust preventative paints like POR-15 and Rust Bullet. They cover and protect very well and you can paint right over the rust withour having to sand it down.

 

I recommend POR-15.
