Just turns off
Hello Truck Men.
I need some of your experience in solving an electrical problem. I drive a 1976 F-150 4X4 with a standard transmission. As I am running smoothly down the road the truck just shuts off. I put it in neutral and turn the key to restart it. It does turn on and we roll down the road smoothly again. It will turn off at random times, no clue to what triggers this. I thought it could be the ignition key set up. Replaced it with a new one. Still does the same thing, shuts off while rolling down the road. Anyone out there ever hear of something like this. Thank You. |
Could it perhaps be stalling, and not "turning off" as in instantly dieing without sputtering?
As odd as it might sound, I'm better versed in electrical diagnostics when there are modern components on the vehicle. Them old ones with points and carburetors usually throw me for a loop. |
