1988 for truck won't start

I have a 1988 ford f-350 diesel. My problem is I'm having a hard time starting the truck when its cold. I have changed the fuel filters, installed new fuel pump, new glow plugs, new relay for glow plugs and I even drained the tanks and put new fuel in them. I tested the glow plugs, the relay and fuel all is fine. Once I get it to start its fine until the next day. Then it won't start its like it losing its prime but the fuel pumps up no problem no air in system. I'm at a lost help.

Hey just wanted you to know that I am having the same problem with my 93 7.3 diesel and just got done doing the things you did. One wierd thing is that it doesn't seem to be on choke when i start it up cold. I would appreciate it if you could tell me anything you find out, and I will try to do the same.

RE: 1988 for truck won't start

I just installed a new block heater in my truck that was having the same problems, know the old truck starts up real nice even when its sat in 10 degree weather all night. I should mention that I am assuming when you say the truck is cold that the weather is cold outside and not that it just has been a while since you last started it up if thats the case you can ignore this letterl. Just to clarify, If this is a 6.9L I think the heater is at the right rear(if you are sitting in the cab) of the engine. If it is a 7.3 L than it should be like mine, right, rear, behind the starter, and is a pain to get to. The block heater looks like a little electric stove element if you take it out. take it with you and show the guy at the counter what it looks like if you go get a new one 60 $ from a ford dealer . feel free to ask anything else if you need more clarification.
