1990 F250 ignition system stuck in start mode
 

1990 F250, 5.8L, 4x4, auto.
Ignition system stuck in start mode, past spring-loaded key position even with key cylinder removed. When battery is connected, starter engages/turns engine/won't disengage, stereo comes on.
Tried tapping solenoid in case of stuck contacts - no change.

Sounds like there might be a short in the wiring harness or maybe this truck is Christine's great comeback performance. :eek:

Try unplugging the harness from ignition switch under dash on steering collom then hook up battery and see what happens.

Ignition switch was no good. 2nd one. Thanks
