2000 F-350; Beeping noise from Instrument Panel?
I have a 2000 F-350 Powerstroke Deisel. It has approximately 100,000 miles. About 2 weeks ago, I noticed an odd beeping noise coming from my instrument panel whenever I put the truck in drive and begin to accelerate.
It beeps five times in five groups. Then it stops, and anywhere from 15-45 minutes later it starts again. No lights come on like the CEL or any other light. It is a very strange beeping noise, like nothing the truck has ever made before. The only problem with the truck is that the ABS light is on, and the spedometer doesn't work until the truck is going about 30-35 MPH. I brought it to my mechanic, and he ran it through the computer and nothing came up. I called Ford and they said they had no idea. I hate to bring it to a dealer yet and pay through the nose to find out it is nothing. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks! |
RE: 2000 F-350; Beeping noise from Instrument Panel?
Hello Mark,
That 5 set beeping is a reminder that something is not right with your ABS. Have it checked out. If you look in your owners manual under ABS it reads about this problem. If you don't have an owners manual you can download one from Ford. Hope this helps. Frank |

My 1999 F350 does exactly the same thing. I have no check light indicators showing. None of the local shops have any ideal either.

After reading Frank the G's response, I went back to my vehicle manual and looked again. The beeprefers to a fault in theSRS system rather than the ABS system. How does one go about testing the SRS without actually setting off the Airbags.
