On the 2012 F-250 SD 4x4 with the 'electric locking' differential, sounds like a great idea. You hit a switch, and the rear end will lock,, putting full power to both rear wheels. Great, however lock means lock,,, it will operate like a solid axle, correct ? So turning on slippery or icy surfaces, would be a tricky move.
According to what I have read, when it is manually locked in, it will unlock at 20 MPH or so,, will it re-lock as you slow down for a turn or stop sign, or do you need to manually restore the locking mechanism after it clicks itself off ?

My concern is if this is still a good option for a truck for snowplowing, where your speeds are normally less than 20mph, locked in can you turn to miss a fire hydrant, or parked cars when plowing a snowy-icy-patches of dry areas- parking lot ?

So,,, is this a good thing or not,,,, many argue limited slip-posi traction is not that usefull as it tends to not really work that well, but it would be way more forgiving, and it does offer added traction,,,,,, but a true locked differential , be it a powerful addition, may put you into a storefront window. To say 'do not lock it in for simple plowing,' one's ego may not allow that, as soon as you feel a wheel spin, a guy may lock it in, more to show off,perhaps.
